Our free weekly Trad Music Session is a welcoming space for musicians of all ages and abilities to develop their playing in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Whether you're learning your first tunes or have years of experience, you'll have the opportunity to play with others, build confidence, develop session skills and become part of our local traditional music community.

When: Every Monday, 6:30pm–7:30pm

Venue: Summerhill College

Who can attend?
All ages and abilities are welcome.

Why stay for the session?

We encourage all students to remain for at least 30 minutes of the Trad Music Session after their lesson. This gives them the opportunity to:

  • Build confidence playing with others

  • Learn new tunes in a real session setting

  • Develop listening and accompaniment skills

  • Make friends with other young musicians

  • Grow as confident traditional musicians

Regular participation in sessions is one of the most valuable ways to develop musicianship and become part of the Irish traditional music community.

🎶 Instrument Rental Information

Instrument rental is available to registered Summerhill students attending Monday or Tuesday classes, subject to availability

✅ One annual fee covers 11 Months (September 2026 – End July 2027).
✅ Special Offer: 50% off rental fees for the first year (2026-2027)

✅ Students must enrol in the class that matches their rented instrument (e.g. flute, fiddle, accordion, harp or concertina).

📌 Summary (at a glance):

  • Harp / Concertina:Refundable €50 deposit (full year)

  • Flute / Fiddle / Button Accordion:Refundable €45 deposit (full year)

All instruments must be returned by end July.

🎵 Harp & Concertina Rental

  • Rental period:September 2026 – August 2027 (11.5 months)

  • One-time fee (with 50% discount): €90 (covers the full year)

  • Security deposit: €50 (payable on collection)

🎻 Flute, Fiddle & Button Accordion Rental

  • Rental period: September 2026 – August 2027 (11.5 months)

  • One-time fee (with 50% discount): €45 (covers the full year)

  • Security deposit: €45 (payable on collection)

Comhaltas Membership Information

Membership is purchased once per year and runs from September to September.

Membership application details are retained for two years. Access to this information is restricted to relevant Comhaltas staff and branch officers, and is used solely for Comhaltas administration and activities.

Comhaltas does not share personal data with third parties.
